After a week apartment hunting on the Peruvian coast, I was so surprised and ecstatic to return and find myself nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by five of some of my best-est blogging friends! What a way to put a smile on a blogger’s face! Wow! I’m sending heartfelt thanks to:
- Allison Irish at Ramblings of a Wahm — I love Allie’s humility and openness in all that she does!
- Adrienne Smith at AdrienneSmith.Net — Adrienne is a true friend to all and I so appreciate her warmth in my life!
- Hajra Khatoon at Hajra Kvetches — A budding writer, Hajra has been a caring blogging friend ever since my early days in the game!
- Barbara Klein at Late Bloomers — It’s amazing how much Barbara and I found in common in such little time!
- Deeone Higgs at Kingskidd Chronicles — Deeone is one of the most down-to-earth people I know and I’m thoroughly inspired by his writing!

I'm so honored to receive the Versatile Blogger Award!
Here’s what winning this award entails:
- I need to pass the award on to 15 other bloggers whose blogs I’ve recently discovered.
- I also need to share 7 things about myself.
- Sonia Marsh at Gusty Living — Sonia is an inspiration and an expert when it comes to blogging for authors.
- Chris Jones at Pedestrian’s Guide to Fredericksburg — No stranger to the world of publishing and blogging, Chris has been a mentor and a great friend to me.
- Hilda Wong at Girl In Your World — Hilda has such a crazy sense of humor and her blog posts always make me smile.
- Paula at The Geeky Shopaholic — Paula is an amazing writer and a kind soul.
- Lynda Mee at Living Balanced Lives — I love the concept behind Lynda’s fresh, new blog.
- Lisa Vooght at Flash Fiction — Li is such a captivating writer of fiction and she’s one of only two fiction bloggers I regularly read.
- Knikkolette Church at Your Social Media Mogul — Knikki is a social media goddess and I’ve already learned so much from her in the short amount of time we’ve known each other.
- Adeline Yuboco at LifeAndLeisure.com — I loved Adeline the minute I met her and even more so when I found out that she blogs about my native country, the Philippines.
- J.D. Meier at Sources of Insight — When it comes to new ways to think about our world, J.D.’s your man!
- Virag Pentek at Escapist Mom — I so relate to Virag’s international life experiences.
- Katrina Moody at Kat’s Cafe — Not only is Kat a stellar writer, but she’s also a loving friend who makes a difference in the lives of those she meets.
- Meghan at Lady in Lima — Meghan’s a fellow expat in Peru who identifies with me on so many levels.
- Adam Sokoloff at AdamSokoloff.com — Adam is full of wisdom, insight and creativity.
- Evelyn Lim at Abundance Tapestry — Evelyn’s blog and life story are thoroughly inspirational.
- Kenya Lynem at Psychic Jazz — Kenya has such a generous spirit and her positive energy is contagious.
- I’m proud of my Chinese name: Luy Ping Ping. My surname, Luy, means “thunder” and Ping means “ice.” Other than a stint in Chinese school when I was younger, I still haven’t had a chance to use it.
- My uncle taught me to float and swim in the salty Filipino ocean during one of my summer vacations. I used to visit my relatives in the Philippines every summer as a child.
- Autism runs in my family. One of my cousins with autism doesn’t speak. She communicates with pictures or by making noises that sound like words.
- I speak to my kittens in Spanish motherese. It involves a lot of the following words: “Hola” (Hi), “Bebito” (Baby) and “Amorcito” (Love). You should try saying different combinations of these words to your babies and/or pets. I know you’re trying it right now! Don’t forget to coo, use a higher pitch and draw out the vowels!
- The only thing I’m anal about in my home is having the toilet paper facing downward. This way, I don’t have to look for the end. =P

I like my toilet paper facing downward. =P
- When I need to tell left from right, I often quickly envision my hands in my mind. The left hand can make an “L” with the forefinger and thumb when my hands are facing away from myself. Am I the only kid who was taught this strategy? =P
- Even though I’ve traveled quite a bit, I don’t particularly enjoy traveling or sightseeing. I prefer to make a cozy nook for myself and settle in.
